US EPA's Revised Total Coliform Rule (RTCR) – Are You Ready?

US EPA Administrator,  Lisa Jackson,  signed the proposed Revised Total Coliform Rule (RTCR), which updates the 1989 Total Coliform Rule.  

The RTCR is important as it applies to ALL water systems. The TCR is the only regulation ensuring the integrity of the distribution system and requiring routine monitoring for the presence of microbial contamination in the distribution system.  

The draft has been published on the USEPA’s website and they encourage comments on the proposed rule, which must be submitted by September 13, 2010.
